When he comes home, he finds his house has been vandalized by the Greedy . He looks in his garden and notices that his favorite plant has been picked and brought to a craft store.
Within the scroll he finds a map, with words written in the language of The Smurfs . He asks his friends for help deciphering the words.
His curiosity is piqued, and he sends them to find out where the craft store is located. But when they get there, a live Smurf is guarding the shop.
His friends are taken to a Smurf village, and he finds that he has been turned into a Smurf, with a monstrous appearance . He is told that he must do as he is told or he will become a full-fledged Smurf.
He is sent to the smurf-writing table, and to his great surprise, finds that the words he deciphered are actually instructions on how to write The Smurfs . And as he writes, his friends are transformed back into humans, in the process they find the scroll, the map and the giant scroll revealing the story of Smurfette .
With the mysterious scroll in hand, they head to the Royal Smurf Village to save Smurfette . But the evil Gargamel, with the help of the Greedy , has captured her.
This second animated movie was released at the end of July 2009. In contrast to the first movie, this one was an animated short instead of a TV series, but it was still a prequel to the first animated movie. It took place before the events of the first animated movie. Gargamel, the Greedy , and the Scaredy-Smurf , who becomes Smurfette's real father, were back.
The short movie follows the Smurfette's story, giving a glimpse of her origin in the prequel, Smurfs. She is a baby, being held by Gargamel while his experiments on her form Smurfs . She is eventually rescued by Smurfette and her friends.
